Ive been on the net all night looking for cheap S/C and Tubo kits... they dont exist for magnas... except RPW of course but 10k... i think not. Ive been looking around and have found that i can access all the components seperatly and only pay like 1k for all the stuff. Then the next problem... am i going to try and set up a S/C by myself... ummm... yeah... ofcourse i am so im gonna try and by my own kit... peice by peice... and then when i have it all... BOOST... YAY... justt thought id lets yas in on my little plan

Zen, have you looked at this thread on AMC... www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23944&page=1&pp=10Not sure but I think I read somewhere that these were only for the 3.5 V6's and you have a 3.0 don't you Anyway, good luck with your plans. But please think - budget - then think again. We all like spending a bit of dosh on our cars but your talking big bickies!!! I recently investigated the cost of dropping a GTO DOHC Twin turbo V6 into my 2nd Gen Magna. (almost a direct bolt in replacement). But once you look at the cost of the GTO halfcut, mechanics, auto electrical work, moving the heater (to somewhere else?), engineers certificate (and maybe brake upgrades) and maybe more??? - I was looking at a $10K+ bill. Add that to the cost of the TS Magna and I could go out and buy a better car End of plans. Could not justtify. Don't let me scare you off, lots have done things like this and are still happy. I'm justt saying - know what your in for and be sure you will be happy when it's done.

...oh, and I've read somewhere that some of the small Superchargers from Toyota's may fit our 3.0l V6's - not sure tho

Sounds good man. Good luck! Should give a good increase in torque... exactly what the 3.0l needs. Should be good for around 200kw? I think Sprintex make a supercharger kit for the 3rd gen. I saw a awd vrx they had at the melb motorshow. The problem may be that it would only suit the 3.5l, not really sure though. So what's required exactly? Would the battery or fusebox need to be relocated with a s/c conversion? One thing you will need for sure when its all complete is a good dyno tune. At a very minimum i think a list similar to this is needed....? -ECU -Exhaust Manifold -Larger Injectors -FPR -High Flow Fuel Filter? (no idea of flow rate for stock MMC one) -Fuel pump? (once again unsure of flow rate) -Decomp Head Gaskets -Adjusttable Bypass Valve -Intake Piping -Intake Manifold + extra little excrement like boost guages, braided oil lines etc... Btw have you seen this site yet? rippmods.com/products/products_list.asp?menuid=3&vehcId=15S/c conversion bits & pieces for the 6g72. U.S site based on the galant. I think i'll stick with NA for a while

im only wanting to run about 4psi so i wont need to decompress the head or anything. ive been told that with only 4psi of boost my standard eu should hold up with that... but eventualy id run somthing like a wolf3d or a unichip. not sure

Cool.
I heard the 3.0l had a stronger bottom end than the 3.5.
so what kind of power will you be looking at roughly?

The whole idea gets me very excited. If you get it up and running (with a nice amount of power for the dosh you've spent) then maybe I'll have to do the same. Need a blow off valve to, justt so everybody knows you're turboed

im hoping to get around 150kw @ wheels... as im only putting down (aparantly) 101kw thats what im after... And i may have my hands on a toyota ct 12 supercharger... its rigged for 8psi so ill have to get the ecu re-mapped... the 3.0ltr ecu's can be re-mapped cant they... i may have to buy a piggy back ship... dunno yet.

Poor little me decided to go visit my friend who works at AUTO PRO, and I've been informed that it would probably cost around $7k to get boost into your/my car.
However, even at 4psi boost he said we could expect somewhere above 200kw at the wheels. He said we could probably run more boost than that safely. And with an intercooler we could get 250kw at the wheels.
Although he said we should upgrade our brakes and get better tyres (I already have good ones so dont need to ) but I said I don't know about you but I didn't plan on stopping
So who's saving up $7K then? LoL
Oh and the apparently putting down only 101kw ATW's is about right, however with a K&N filter and a new ecu our 3L's perform slightly better than the 3.5L's with same upgrades. And that includes on the torque side of things too. So I've been told. Pretty cool huh.

Have you guys seen this on AMC... www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26240"3L MIVEC conversion (including the 5spd tiptronic + LSD) for $6500 driveaway??" "This would include, the brakes / larger drive shafts / new dash etc etc, plus the 208kw 3L MIVEC engine "

Interesting, however having a boosted 200km+ for around $500 more would be better, i think

True, but the Mivec conversion icludes brake upgrade etc. too. But I think it's in Perth

Yeah it is in Perth but I will talk to the "magna man" and see what he thinks about it and if he can do it or knows of someone who can. It would be alot better having an N/A engine that turbo if the fact that we get alot more stuff with n/a conversion (including a new engine) and we'd have all that power all the time ;D
So maybe we should rename the thread to "The quest for 3L MIVECS engines in our magna's"
You mentioned something about brake upgrades? What are brakes and what do they do? LoL

sorry its taken me so long to reply... damed assingments at TAFE... :S Yeah. Well.... i may have a S/C'r one out of an MR2... a mate has it and is holding it for me... its rigged for 8psi and has a clutch set up, so i can turn it off and justt run N/A when i want... i was happy with that... now im on the hunt for an intercooler... justt a little one... i dont want to draw too much attention to my car... so yay im one step closer to my quest
